The Shared Value Hub Accelerator Program supports climate action by transforming innovators into entrepreneurs equipping them with tools and resources to design business models that support long term change, gain traction and mobilize capital to accelerate their impact.
We are currently supporting 15 entrepreneurs contributing to climate action in the accelerator program. We support them through offering mentorship, monthly expert sessions, online learning modules, go-to-market support, fundraising and critical support network. We support enterprises which fall under our key sector areas of sustainable agriculture, circular economy, Clean & Modern Energy, Oceans & Landscape, Water & Sanitation and Diversity & Inclusion.
We are working with five producer organization in different value chains (horticulture, livestock and dairy) to improve their digital offering by exploring areas of use of big data and artificial intelligence in digital transformation of their processes.
The implementation of digital tools in the last mile can lead to business performance improvements such as increased productivity, cost reduction and revenue and profitability growth.
We are currently working with women and youth farmer groups in different counties to help them in optimization of their enterprises through digitization, capacity building and fundraising.
Women are present in every value chain as producers, processors, and distributors. However, their roles are often informal, not recognized, with limited power and voice or their roles are recognized but they have difficulties in accessing the resources needed to grow and professionalize their businesses. Women producers, who are often excluded or have their participation restrained in organizations, face additional challenges, such as cultural and legal discrimination, which prevent them from accessing productive assets, finance, education and technology. Establishing their own organizations or becoming more active in integrated organizations can help them overcome these constraints, increase their economic and social power and improve access to needed services.
Shared Value Foundation prioritizes young people by tapping into these abilities to drive the climate action conversation. We believe young people are in the driver’s seat to a greener future.
Over 60% of Africa’s population is under the age of 25. We believe tapping into their energy, skills, and talents is amongst the surest ways of securing a sustainable future. The most recent event was the #PATHtoNetZero event in Moi University-Main Campus. We embraced a TED Talk format kind of conference that had over 300 attendees. The event was moderated by key-note speakers who doubled and panelists. Students had a platform to showcase their innovation and two cents on how to create a climate-safe future.
